I have a couple of cousins (siblings), one who speaks to me and one who doesn't. I wasn't invited to their weddings for a similar reason (basically, there was an expectation of an expensive gift, which I couldn't meet at that time). I'm okay with not being invited (it was discussed between our mothers), but I don't know if THEY know I wasn't invited (their mother did the invitations in both cases, I think), and I kinda wonder if my lack of presence/gift is the reason one of them doesn't speak to me.

Not enough to ask, though.
